The Makerere University Retirement Benefits Scheme (MURBS) Trust Deed dated 17th April 2015 provides that MURBS shall be governed by a Board of Trustees comprising four (4) employee-nominated Trustees and one (1) employer-nominated Trustee effective 1st April 2017. Elections/nominations of MURBS Trustees are conducted in accordance with the procedures stipulated under Clause 7 of the Trust Deed and the minimum requirements provided for in the Board Charter.
MURBS hereby provides notice to Scheme members that, in December 2020, elections will be held to fill the positions for three MURBS Member-Nominated Trustees, whose terms will be expiring on 31st March 2021.
The three positions will be filled by the respective Associations, namely, the Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA), the Makerere University Administrative Staff Association (MASA) and the National Union of Education Institutions (NUEI). Elections will be conducted on 1st December 2020 (by proxy) and 3rd December 2020 (by ballot). The new Member-Nominated Trustees will serve from 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2025.
