I have been diagnosed with a terminal illness and I am no longer able to pay for my treatment. How do I access a portion of my retirement benefits for my medical expenses?

A member who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and is unable to pay their medical bills may access up to fifty percent of their benefits. Such a member is required to obtain a recommendation from the Uganda Medical Board confirming and recommending them to access their benefits from the Scheme. Once submitted, and if approved by the Scheme, the scheme will undertake, on the member’s behalf to pay the hospital part of the benefits.
